To join the VFW, you must be a U.S. citizen who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard with an honorable discharge and have served in a foreign war, insurrection, or expedition, earning a U.S. campaign or service medal. Alternatively, you can be eligible by serving 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea or by receiving hostile fire or imminent danger pay.
